The Star Shelter opened its doors in
March 1999 and is the only secular crisis centre in
Singapore. It is a Registered Charity and an Institute of Public
Character (IPC). Since its inception, it has housed more
than 800 women and their children.
New2U is open from Mondays
to Fridays from 10.30am to 2.30pm and
managed by a dedicated team of local and expatriate volunteers. Duties
performed by volunteers include sorting through the donated items, pricing them
and manning the shop and bookstore. Half priced days occur every last 2 weekdays of every month. Proceeds
go towards defraying the cost of running the Star Shelter.
New2U is open
for donations of clothes and accessories, books
and toys, electronics and small kitchen appliances,
as well as other pre-loved knick-knacks
in good resalable condition. It does not take in furniture,
crockery and utensils or used shoes.
If you would like to make a donation of your items, you can drop them
off on at all times during weekdays
and weekends at 96 Waterloo Street, SCWO Centre.
