The Trademarked “YOU™”
Master Your Leadership Personal Brand and Achieve Greater Career Success

Reviewer: Jackie Mitchell

Wow! November’s 2nd Thursday was a lively and thought-provoking event with Brenda Bence, an internationally recognised branding expert who spoke on The Trademarked “YOU,” how others perceive, think and feel about us.

After Brenda’s enlightening discussion of branding, I imagine that many of us were much more aware of the number of brands that we encounter each day. In a modern, urban environment like Singapore, we can be exposed to as many as 3,000 brands daily! How do brands influence our thinking? That’s what Brenda challenged us to think about.

Brenda led us in a fun exercise to explore our assumptions of brands, asking us to characterize a typical owner of a Mercedes and a Ferrari. We all laughed aloud as we called out the traits of each owner, but we quickly realized the stereotypes we held about each one. Brenda showed us how the art and science of branding focus on perceptions, thoughts and feelings.

What is your leadership personal brand? You may be surprised to know that you already have a leadership brand that exists in the minds of other people. So, what does that mean for you? If you are looking for a promotion or better career prospects, you need to be in control of your brand, including your reputation, integrity, and your sense of purpose--what you stand for.

Each of us needs to define our personal brand so we can control it and make it work for us. Brenda showed us how to apply our personal branding at work:
1.     Define your existing and future personal brand. Be specific on what you stand for.
2.     Communicate effectively and consistently to promote your personal branding.
3.     Avoid damaging it!  Brenda discussed Personal Brand Busters, where she shared some of the common pitfalls.

What I liked about the evening was the fun and sense of self-worth Brenda brought out in everyone in the room. Brenda was an engaging, uplifting speaker, offering an abundance of practical tips on how to achieve our desired personal brand.

The Trademarked “YOU™”
Master Your Leadership Personal Brand and Achieve Greater Career Success

Why do some leaders continue to move up in an organization and others don’t? That’s a question in many women’s minds today. And the answer isn’t necessarily because you have the most experience or the most education. In fact, the long-held belief that “the most qualified person gets the job” is often a myth.

The truth is: You’re more likely to be selected for increasingly responsible positions within your organization based on how well others perceive, think, and feel about “YOU™” -- The Trademarked You. The art - and science - of Leadership Personal Branding is what keeps leaders moving up the ladder and growing personally.

In this engaging and thought-provoking program, internationally-recognized branding expert, certified executive coach and award-winning author Brenda Bence will reveal the foundations and the fundamentals of Leadership Personal Branding and how it can not only impact you as a leader but how it can also impact the success of your organization as a whole.

Brenda will share top Leadership Personal Brand Busters® that she sees regularly in her executive coaching practice. If not caught early enough, these surprising (but not uncommon) on-the-job blunders can stop you from reaching your full career potential.

During this eye-opening, interactive session, you will:

  • Learn what leadership personal branding is and why it’s important to your on-going career success
  • Tap into the six core elements that define your own unique leadership brand at work
  • Understand the five most important ways to take charge of how you are perceived as a leader on the job
  • Uncover the single most important skill that separates the highest-achieving women from the rest
  • Learn practical tips and tools that can be applied easily and immediately for short- and long-term career success
